Sometimes Yes, Sometimes No is an AAC-supportive children’s book that helps young communicators explore choices, boundaries, self-advocacy, and how YES and NO can feel. Through playful and relatable examples—pizza vs. boogers, calm music vs. loud music, bubbles vs. climbing the bookshelf—children learn that both yes and no are important ways to communicate and advocate for themselves. Designed by a speech-language pathologist, this book supports: • AAC users • emerging communicators • autistic learners • early language development • self-advocacy and boundary setting AAC icons appear throughout the story, and the child models YES and NO on an AAC device. The book also includes: • a small low-tech AAC communication board • a simple YES/NO choice activity • repetitive language that supports aided language modeling Created with minimal navigation in mind, communication partners can model language directly from the home screen of many AAC systems, or use the included low-tech AAC grid.
