I See Spring! is an engaging AAC-supported children’s book designed to encourage early communication, language exploration, and shared interaction during everyday experiences.
Centered around the word SEE, this story follows a joyful spring walk where children discover flowers, butterflies, wind, rain, puddles, ducks, and more. Repetitive language and playful sound effects such as “buzz, buzz,” “quack, quack,” and “splash, splash” support early communicators while making the story playful and engaging.
This book is intentionally designed to support the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). Communication partners are encouraged to model language using aided language input, a widely recognized AAC best practice in which adults point to or activate symbols while speaking so children can see how language works on a communication system.
The story structure supports repetition, shared attention, and natural language modeling, helping children explore language through real experiences in the environment.
This book includes:
• AAC icon-supported story text to support visual language learning
• A low-tech AAC communication board for participation and modeling
• An AAC advocacy grid supporting communication access
• A simple spring exploration activity to extend learning beyond the book
Communication partners are encouraged to model language in ways that feel comfortable and manageable, allowing children to experience communication through shared exploration, play, and connection.
Designed for AAC users, emerging communicators, and speaking children alike, this book supports inclusive learning across home, therapy, and classroom environments.
Created by Stacey Galvez, MA, CCC-SLP, this book is part of the Tap with Tay™ AAC Story Books – Communication-First Learning Series, designed to help every child experience meaningful communication.
